Psystar, Apple enter partial settlement to cease clone Mac sales

After 17 months of litigation between Apple and clone Mac maker Psystar, the whole ordeal may soon be

at an end, with an agreement between the two parties expected to be revealed this week.

Psystar on Monday filed a new document with Judge William Alsup in a San Francisco court revealing

that it and Apple had entered into a "partial settlement" that will be filed with the court on Tuesday.

The revelation came as part of a response to Apple's request for a permanent injunction, filed last week.

Based on Psystar's claims, the agreement would seem to cover the sale of all clone hardware with Mac

OS X preinstalled. Apple originally filed suit against Psystar in July of 2008 due to the Florida company's

selling of unauthorized machines with the operating system installed.

Per the terms of the alleged deal, Psystar would pay Apple damages of an unspecified amount,

and Apple would agree to drop the bulk of its case.

Yves Rossy, Swiss 'Jet Man', ditches

into sea as record bid fails

Yves Rossy, the Swiss adventurer nicknamed Jet Man, was forced to ditch in the

sea during a failed bid to make the first intercontinental flight using a jet-powered

wing attached to his back.

Rossy, 50, planned to fly 24 miles across the the Strait of Gibraltar from Tangier

in Morocco to Atlanterra in southern Spain, at a speed of almost 140mph, a flight

that should have taken about 13 minutes.

The former fighter pilot planned to jump from a plane at 6,500ft and use his

four-cylinder jet pack to power the eight-foot carbon fibre wing at speeds of up to

180mph from Africa to southern Spain. He was then going to cut his engines,

open his parachute and land in Spain.

After about 15 minutes into the flight, however,

Rossy disappeared from live television pictures.

Porn App Store Lands on Android Phones
Where there is no app for that on the iPhone, there now is for porn on the competing Android
mobile operating system. A Seattle-based company named MiKandi (pronounced "my candy")
has released an app store specifically geared towards porn. The application attempts to create
a red light district for adult Android apps allowing adult content providers to set up shop within
a MiKandi app

Bill Gates subpoenaed for RRODs
I don't know whether to to get my hopes up over this one or not but Bill Gates has been
subpoenaed in a suit targeting Microsoft for it's Xbox 360 game console line.  Erik Estavillo,
coined a "professional plantiff" by GamePolitics for his numerous gaem related legal ventures,
has demanded that Gates make public "ture and relative numbers of actual Xbox 360 units
that have been fixed by Microsoft over the past 3 years."  Estavillo also seeks related Xbox 360
failure data and figures on banned Xbox Live accounts.  While Estavillo's cause seems just we
are also talking about a guy who is currently suing Activision Blizzard claiming that characters
in World of Warcraft walk at an intentionally sluggish pace to wrench extra bucks out of players
in monthly fees.  He has also filed suit against Sony for banning him from online play due to
some comments her made during some Resistance: Fall of Man matches.  I'm just going to keep
an eye on this not as much for justice as for entertainment.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment (USHE) announced today the introduction of groundbreaking dual-format discs containing both Blu-ray Hi-Def and DVD versions of some of Hollywood's most iconic films. That is a cool idea. Really not a huge deal. Still cool none the less.

Confused men try to rob Md. funeral home
Tue Dec 1, 3:52 pm ET

Calvert County authorities are searching

for two men who tried to rob a funeral home

that they may have mistaken for a bank.

Police said the men robbed Lee Funeral Home,

next to a PNC Bank, in Owings on Monday.

Lt. Steve Jones of the Calvert Investigative Team

said an employee told the suspects they weren't in a bank.

The men assaulted one funeral home worker,

whose injuries were not life-threatening.

It's unclear if the robbers took anything.

Authorities believe the pair later robbed a SunTrust bank in Dunkirk,

making away with cash and firing at a person outside

who tried to get a look at them. No one was injured.

Four schools were partially locked down during the incidents.

Mom allegedly hits deputy who arrested her son

Tue Dec 1, 4:04 pm ET

CLINTON, Tenn. –

East Tennessee police said a mom punched a police officer

and now shares assault charges with her adult son.

The Knoxville News Sentinel quoted

Anderson County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Hobbs

who said he arrested a 39-year-old man accused of shooting at another man

Thanksgiving afternoon. Hobbs said the suspect's mother followed the police car

from her home in Andersonville to the jail in Clinton and demanded he release her son.

Hobbs said he tried to grab her hand and calm her down

when she punched him in the face.

The mother was charged with a half-dozen offenses, including assault.

The son faces charges that include aggravated assault.

Both are free on bond.

Jesus Christ dumped from jury pool for disruption

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Court officials say a Birmingham woman who changed her name to Jesus Christ

didn't live up to it when she reported for jury duty this week. The woman, previously named Dorothy

Lola Killingworth, was sent to Judge Clyde Jones's courtroom for a criminal case Monday.

Court officials told The Birmingham News Tuesday that the 59-year-old was excused because she was

disruptive and kept asking questions instead of answering them.

Efforts to reach Christ for comment were unsuccessful.

Court administrator Sandra Turner said people there were shocked when the woman insisted her name

was Jesus Christ and some potential jurors laughed out loud when her name was called.

But Turner said unlike some Jefferson County residents, Christ didn't try to get out of jury duty and was

"perfectly happy to serve."
