Just a side note: Windows 7...21 HOUR INSTALL!?

Even though it is highly unlikely and expected as a worst case scenario, Micorsoft Windows 7

can take up to 21 hours to install.  Microsoft Software Engineer Chris Hernandez posted install

times for both 32 and 64-bit installs of Windows 7 and while most of the user configurations

looked acceptable (50 minutes or so) users with 650GB+ (who are these people?) can look

forward to 8 - 21 hour OS installs depending on the hardware.  So I would think twice about

pumping up that ol' eMachine from Windows 95 if I were you.

 VIDEO GAMES

Shantae: Risky's Revenge announced for DSiWare

Now if there are three things I like in a video game it's 2-D side scrolling, obscure-ass characters
and the Capcom logo slapped right on the front.  Fortunately for me WayForward is bringing those
3 elements back for the sequel to their much overlooked Game Boy Color title Shantae.  Shantae
is a half-genie that defends the citizens of Scuttle Town from pirates led by their leader Risky Boots.
The sequel is set to be released Q4 09 and if it carries a fraction of the fun and characterization that
the first one did then it won't be one to miss.

Crysis for iPhone?

Without getting folks too excited (or too confused as to how to control it) let me just say that yes,
Crysis was demonstrated running on the iPhone.  The cloud computing folks at OTOY used some of
AMD's latest GPU wackiness to render the game on remote servers and displayed it on an HDTV
and an iPhone.  As you can imagine, things looked a lil' shaky on the HDTV but were much more
forgiving on the iPhone's tiny display.  OTOY had previously demonstrated Mercenaries 2 running
through in a browser using similar technology at this year's CES.  Now if AT&T would put forth the
network to support it...

Lamborghini Reventon Roadster revealed
Soon to be piloted by lucky cash squandering elitist jerks, Lamboghini released official images of
the new Reventon Roadster.  The Roadster is quite edgy (seriously, it looks like something Star
Fox would fight) with its harsh corners and jutting features yet maintains the Lamborghini look
(with just a hint of Enzo on the front bumper).  The usual jaw dropping specs are there with a 661

horsepower 6.5-liter V12 with a gallop to 62mph in 3.4 seconds.  Less than 20 of these guys will

be made available at €1.1 million and available in October.

Train misses drunken teen napping on track

http://declubz.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/russian-girls.jpg

PARIS (Reuters) – A drunk French teenager narrowly escaped death

on Sunday after falling asleep on a railway track

and slumbering undisturbed as a high-speed train roared over him, police said.

The 19-year old, whose name was not released, remained fast asleep

face down on a stretch of track near Saint Nolff in southern Brittany,

as the Quimper to Paris train passed, leaving only a few grease stains on the back of his jacket.

The driver saw the body lying on the tracks and slammed on the brakes,

but was only able to stop a few hundred meters further on.

"It was his unconscious state that saved him really,

as he lay there completely still like a dead body,

" said a spokesman for the local police force,

adding that the clearance under the train is only around 20 centimeters.

According to the spokesman, the teenager was making his way back from the Saint Nolff music festival

when he stopped to take a nap on the railway line.

Roused by police and fire fighters who attended the scene,

the young man gave a one-fingered salute before rolling over and going back to sleep.

He was subsequently transferred to a nearby hospital

where police say he is still recovering from his alcohol binge.

"He's not really aware of what happened," said the police spokesman.

Police: Well-dressed elderly man robs Calif. bank

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Authorities say a well-dressed elderly man

carrying an oxygen tank has robbed a bank in the San Diego

suburb of La Jolla.

San Diego police Sgt. Ray Battrick says the suspect

on Saturday presented a note demanding money to a teller

at the San Diego National Bank. He fled with an unknown amount of cash.

Battrick says it's unclear whether the suspect had a weapon.

The robber is described as a tall man in his 70s with white hair,

a gray mustache and glasses. He was wearing a white beret,

argyle sweater and brown sports jacket.

Battrick says the oxygen tank was in a black bag and connected to the man's nose with plastic tubing.

City advertises porn on website by accident

2197-1.jpg image by msf67

BERLIN (Reuters) – Authorities in the western German city of Gelsenkirchen

accidentally advertised porn among the services on offer for residents on its website.

"It was a mistake," said a spokesman for the city authorities Tuesday.

"There was never any intention of the city providing pornography as a service."

The administrative error arose

when an employee compiling the list thought that brothel owners might type "porn"

into the search box to find out about the city's sex tax, he added.

The city has now removed the word from the list.
