Drinks While Running, Man Breaks ‘Beer Mile’ Record

A 34-year-old man has broken the world record for running a beer mile in under 5 minutes, that is, run one mile having downed a can of beer at the end of each 400m lap. James Nielson recorded a time of 4 minutes 57 seconds drinking four cans of 5% Budweiser, breaking the 5-minute threshold and setting a new record. The previous top spot was held Josh Harris who ran a time of 5 minutes 4 seconds fuelled by Coopers 62 last year in Melbourne.

Godzilla roars into the box office

To the tune of $93M US and another $100M overseas

In just 4 days US the king of the lizards was only a few hundred thousand behind what Cap 2 made.

Of course with a huge weekend we are already getting reports of a 2nd godzilla. With a budget of  $160M WB has to be elated that they now have another franchise to play with. Look for lots more monster fun. Let us just hope they stay with director Gareth Edwards. Who’s other movie Monsters only played on 25 screens and pulled in $237 Thousand and only cost him $20,508 Thousand to make.

Batman and Wonder woman have both been spotted around Detroit.

Both Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot have been seen in and around detroit the last few days. Gal Gadot was seen in Birmingham and Ben was spotted walking out of a gym just outside of Detroit. I didn’t get what city he was in. This movie is still 2 years away and already lots of sightings in the D

Rumor has it that Disney is going to be releasing the orignal un-altered trilogy of Star Wars Here’s why.

Very awesome read!

Now consider this: Disney purchased the Star Wars franchise in 2012 for $4 billion. That’s billion with a ‘B’. And they intend to continue with Saga with new episodes that tie directly into those original films. This isn’t another prequel trilogy aimed at a new generation of kids – they’re shooting squarely at Gen-Xers with these new films. The same Gen-X that's built up all those bad feelings surrounding Star Wars over the years. What do you suppose is the quickest and surest way to wipe out all that ill will in one stroke, and at the same time ensure that nearly every of those kids who first discovered Star Wars back in the 20th Century (now 40 and 50-something adults) jumps on the bandwagon for the new sequels?”

Silly Putty may finally be useful

If you see a group of scientists playing with a blob of Silly Putty, they might not be goofing off, they may be working on a technological breakthrough. That turned out to be the case with researchers at the University of California, Riverside Bourns College of Engineering , who have developed a way to use an ingredient in Silly Putty to improve lithium-ion battery life between charges by three times the industry standard.

The researchers at the University of California used a modern variant of one of the main ingredients in Silly Putty, silicon dioxide (SiO2) to create a new battery anode. The reasoning behind this is that silicon dioxide is basically powdered quartz and as easy to come by as dirt. It’s also non-toxic and found in everything from children’s toys to fast foods. If it could be adapted for battery manufacture, it would have a great advantage over rarer elements.

The trick was to form this very common substance into more exotic nanotube anodes. That’s because this isn't the first time silicon dioxide has been tried in lithium-ion batteries, but the results previously haven’t been impressive. However, when formed into nanotubes, it produced three times the energy capacity compared to carbon-based anodes. More importantly, such nanotubes can be cycled 100 times and still maintain energy storage.

According to the researchers, the Silly Putty-derived nanotube anodes can be cycled for hundreds of times beyond the tested limits, and they are now working on how to scale the process up to commercial levels.

President Obama to be Asked to Block BBC Show ‘Top Gear’ That Allegedly Used Racist Term

LONDON — President Obama has been asked to consider blocking broadcast in the U.S. of BBCmotoring show “Top Gear” after its star, Jeremy Clarkson, was accused of allegedly using racist language. A firm of lawyers, Equal Justice, is to write to Obama and the ambassadors of more than 200 countries in which “Top Gear” airs to ask them to consider the evidence, and then decide if the series should continue to be broadcast in their countries, the Guardian has reported. The firm was referring to footage from the show in which the nursery rhyme “eeny, meeny, miny, mo” was recited, and in which it has been alleged the n-word was used. The footage was not broadcast, but the Daily Mirror has put the footage on its website. Clarkson claims he mumbled something that sounds like the offending word, but not the word itself. Lawrence Davies, director of Equal Justice, said: “Clarkson claimed he ‘did everything in my power to make sure that that version did not appear in the program that was transmitted’ … The obvious thing that any non-racist would have done is to not use the rhyme at all or failing that to simply substitute another word such as ‘tiger’ in the take. There was never any need to mumble the N-word repeatedly.”

Davies added that the BBC should have sacked Clarkson and his team for alleged “gross misconduct,” but won’t because “they are making money out of the show.” It is not the first time the show has been accused of using racist language.

Equal Justice repped Indian-born actress Somi Guha when she filed a complaint to the BBC about “Top Gear” after Clarkson used the word “slope” when referring to an Asian man.

The firm also repped Iris de la Torre, who complained about the use of racial stereotypes in an episode about Mexican vehicles.
