Tanked Episode 243 for Wed Mar. 27, 2013

- Beer/Mixed Drinks

- Weekend Catchup

Started playing Tomb Raider (roughly 2 hours in)

On 5 March 2013 Square Enix released Tomb Raider, billed as a reboot of the franchise. In Tomb Raider, the player is confronted with a much younger Lara Croft who is shipwrecked and finds herself stranded on a mysterious island rife with danger, both natural and human. In contrast to the earlier games Croft is portrayed as vulnerable, acting out of necessity, desperation and sheer survival rather than for a greater cause or personal gain.

thoughts thus far

-satisfying start

-great action and scary moments with the wild dogs

-fantastic game control and camera angles

-feels like it’s on rails but i hear the exploration opens up after 2 hours

-for being an open and in a jungle island it feels very small and restricted (like a small room)

-i will have more thoughts about it next week

-Need to finish this soon so i can play Bioshock infanite

Escape from New York Remake?

Tom Hardy & Jason Statham on Shortlist?

Was only a matter of time before more Carpenter flicks got remade. Between Halloween and the Thing. Not much of a shock on escape from New York originally played by Kurt Russell. Snake will be back the only question is who plays him. I vote Tom Hardy. Although he is Mad Max already.

G I Joe = The Wolverine

With G.I. Joe getting released today we also get the trailer for the Wolverine!

We see Logan in Japan with not to many major clues. He has saved someones life and he wants to replay logan. some fun action scenes and he becomes unable to heal at some point. Looks like a fun story. Can’t wait to see to see the Berserker.

Binural recordings with 3D Holophonic sound

Binaural recording is a method of recording sound that uses two microphones, arranged with the intent to create a 3-D stereo soundsensation for the listener of actually being in the room with the performers or instruments. This effect is often created using a technique known as "Dummy head recording", wherein a mannequin head is outfitted with a microphone in each ear. Binaural recording is intended for replay using headphones and will not translate properly over stereo speakers.

Holophonics is a binaural recording system created by Hugo Zuccarelli that is based on the claim that the human auditory system acts as an interferometer. It relies on phase variance, just like stereophonic sound. The sound characteristics of holophonics are most clearly heard through headphones; though they can be effectively demonstrated with 2-channel stereo speakers, provided that they are phase-coherent.

A head-related transfer function (HRTF) is a response that characterizes how an ear receives a sound from a point in space; a pair of HRTFs for two ears can be used to synthesize a binaural sound that seems to come from a particular point in space. It is a transfer function, describing how a sound from a specific point will arrive at the ear (generally at the outer end of the auditory canal)

Did you get a tingle? Then you have ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response)

ASMR is a tricky feeling to describe it’s a tingle in your brain, a kind of pleasurable headache that can creep down your spine. It’s a shortcut to a blissed-out meditative state that allows you to watch long videos that for someone who doesn’t have ASMR are mind-meltingly dull. Not everyone gets this feeling, and though some people can get the tingles through sheer force of will, most depend on external “triggers” to set them off. Triggers can include getting a massage or a haircut or a manicure, or hearing someone talk in a soothing tone of voice (Bob Ross, the “let’s put a happy tree right here” painter from PBS, is a common trigger), or even just watching someone pay extremely close attention to a task, like assembling a model. It’s not usually sexual—everyone who talked to me about ASMR mentioned that right off the bat—but like sexual turn-ons, different people have different things that set them off: the sound of lips smacking together, a cashier’s fake nails tapping on the register, your friend drawing on your hand with a marker. I call it audio porn for your brain.

'Dead' Prostitute Comes Back To Life After Being Placed In Coffin (VIDEO)

A prostitute in Bulowayo, Zimbabwe, is bringing new meaning to the term "killer sex" after authorities thought she died during an encounter with a customer.

However, she came back to life just as officials placed her in a metal coffin.

The incident occurred last week at the Manor Hotel and the escort, later identified as "MaNdlo," reportedly collapsed and died while having sex with a client, the Herald-Sun reported.

But when authorities came to collect the body of the prostitute and put it in a steel coffin, she suddenly woke up in a panic screaming, "You want to kill me!" at the officers, according to

Seeing a woman presumed to be dead spring back to life shocked onlookers, many of whom ran away in fear, reported.

"It was like a movie," a source told the website. "People were running away in different directions. It was a scary incident because we were all convinced that she had died because she was just cold. Miracles surely do happen."

MaNdlo was taken home by another working girl and the unidentified john who allegedly "killed" her reportedly sneaked out of the hotel moments after the cops had left, according to AniNews.In.

'Survivor' France Contestant Gerald Babin Dies, Season Canceled

Tragedy struck "Survivor's" French adaptation "Koh Lanta" Friday, March 22 when 25-year-old contestant Gerald Babin died after suffering a heart attack during "shipwreck" challenge that also included a tug of war in Cambodia.

The show was immediately canceled for the season as Channel TF1 and Adventure Line Productions flew the contestants back from Cambodia to Paris over the weekend. Neither the network nor the production company has yet said whether they plan to continue "Koh Lanta" for future seasons.

According to THR, Babin began to complain about pain in his arms after the contestants jumped out of a boat, swam to shore and engaged in a tug-of-war. He received medical attention from the show's doctor on the scene and was airlifted to a hospital, but suffered a series of cardiac arrests in the helicopter before they could get there.

The network and production company released a joint statement reacting to the sad news. “Adventure Line Productions, TF1 and [host] Denis Broginart are devastated and join in the profound sadness of Gerald’s family.”
