The Vaportini – Drinking Without the Drinking

A new product has arrived on the drinking scene which aims to take the drinking out of drinking. The Vaportini is a vaporizing system that allows you to breath in the vapors of your choice of alcohol. They claim that “It is smooth and flavorful, the subtleties of the individual spirits are apparent. It is absorbed directly into the bloodstream and does not go through the digestive tract.”
The effect is supposed to be near instantaneous and last for about 20 minutes. Also, since the alcohol is vaporized, there are no calories or carbs.  The Vaportini kit itself is also quite simple. It consist of a glass globe, metal ring, plastic funnel, glass straw, and candle. You simple put the liquor of your choice in the glass globe, place a lit candle underneath and inhale the vapor through the glass straw. The process is said to give a euphoric high with no hangover.

Though we probably wont give up our drinks anytime soon, the new device does sound fun. A few bars, like Red Kiva, have even begun carrying and serving it to guests.

But Does it Work? We were skeptical about this whole process so we did some research online. Apparently, vaporizing alcohol has been used for some time now in Asia and Europe.  The effect is more of a Euphoria type head high and may give a different feeling than what you are used to. The problem however is that it is hard to gauge the level of intoxication you are taking in, so we recommend starting slow and feeling it out.

Warning: In addition to not being able to gauge how intoxicated you are, we suggest taking some precautions before you head out to breath in fumes. A similar vaporization device known as AWOL is banned in a number of stats in the US, it is suspected that one of the reasons for its ban is because not enough is known about its effects, which could be a good or bad thing. side-effects check out this article.

Google-gate Denies running over donkey in botswana

Google has reassured users that no animals were harmed in the making of its popular maps after a street view picture surfaced of a donkey lying on the side of a road.

The message put out on Wednesday by the internet giant was prompted by reaction to the picture, which gave the impression that a Google Maps car had run over a donkey on a dirt road while gathering Street View images in Botswana.
In a blog post titled "Never ass-ume," Kei Kawai of Google Maps said the donkey was merely enjoying a roll in the dirt when the car approached.
"Because of the way our 360-degree imagery is put together, it looked to some that our car had been involved in an unseemly hit and run, leaving the humble beast stranded in the road," Kawai said.
"I'm pleased to confirm the donkey is alive and well."
His blog post included a set of images showing the donkey standing and moving aside as the Google Maps car neared, and then staring inquisitively at the departing vehicle.

Whether this will silence doubters on the internet remains to be seen - some have claimed that the donkey would have to walk backwards for Google's version to be right.

Cheese fire causes traffic meltdown in Norway tunnel

(Reuters) - A truckload of burning cheese has closed a road tunnel in Arctic Norway for the last six days.
Some 27 metric tons of flaming brown cheese (brunost), a Norwegian delicacy, blocked off a three-km (1.9 mile) tunnel near the northern coastal town of Narvik when it caught fire last Thursday. The fire was finally put out on Monday.
"This high concentration of fat and sugar is almost like petrol if it gets hot enough," said Viggo Berg, a policeman.
Brown cheese is made from whey, contains up to 30 percent fat and has a caramel taste.
"I didn't know that brown cheese burns so well," said Kjell Bjoern Vinje at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.
He added that in his 15 years in the administration, this was the first time cheese had caught fire on Norwegian roads.
Berg said that no one was injured in the fire, only one other vehicle was in the area at the time and that the accident had luckily happened close to one of the tunnel's exits.
The tunnel will closed for repairs for at least a week.

'Cleaning Fairy' busted while shoveling

ELYRIA, Ohio, Jan. 23 (UPI) --

Elyria Police said they responded to a report of a
"suspicious female" shoveling a home's driveway without permission
Tuesday and they arrived to find Susan Warren, 53, WOIO-TV,
Cleveland, reported Wednesday.

Warren was dubbed "The Cleaning Fairy" when she was busted
in November 2012 for allegedly breaking into a house and cleaning it,
leaving behind a handwritten bill for $75. She was sentenced
to a year of probation.
Police said Warren had a warrant out for a probation
violation and she was taken to jail.

Girl scolded in class for paper gun

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 23 (UPI) --

A Philadelphia woman said her daughter's elementary school
overreacted when the girl was searched and scolded for
possessing a paper gun.

Dianna Kelly said her daughter, fifth-grader Melody Valentin,
was reprimanded by a school administrator at
Newlin Fell Elementary School and had her belongings searched
last week when she pulled out a paper gun her grandfather had made,

WTXF-TV, Philadelphia, reported Wednesday.

Valentin said she decided to throw the folded-paper object away
when she discovered it in her bag, but it was spotted by a boy
who summoned administrators.
"He yelled at me and said I shouldn't have brought the
gun to school and I kept telling him it was a paper gun but
he wouldn't listen," Valentin said.

WTXF-TV said it was unable to reach school officials for comment.
The School District of Philadelphia said it had not yet spoken to
officials at the school about the incident.
