MW3: Billions Served

It took Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 just 16 days to do more than $1 billion in sales, making
it the biggest entertainment launch of all time, Activision announced Monday.

Modern Warfare 3 went on sale on Nov. 8 and it had a record-breaking first day, selling more than 6.5

million units for a total of $400 million in sales. Activision said it broke the record of 5.6 million units

and $360 million in sales set last year by Black Ops.

Not only has it bested Black Ops, Modern Warfare 3 has also made $1 billion faster than Avatar,

James Cameron's 2009 blockbuster, which reached the same milestone in 17 days.

Couple arrested for subway sex

TORONTO, Dec. 13 (UPI) --

A couple made the front pages of Toronto newspapers Tuesday

after being caught having sex on the subway and then again on a station platform.

The incident happened Sunday afternoon when the unidentified young man and woman

allegedly started copulating aboard a train, the Toronto Sun reported.

A passenger the Sun described as "disgusted" pressed the emergency stop strip

and transit authorities arrived to separate the pair.

After a 14-minute delay, the couple were put off at the next station,

where they allegedly resumed having sex on the floor, the newspaper said.

The station coupling was caught on video and posted to YouTube,

although it has been removed and replaced several times.

Police said the two were clearly intoxicated although it wasn't clear

whether it was alcohol or drug-related.

They were taken to a hospital for evaluation as a precaution.

Each was charged with engaging in a lewd act, police said.

Police car ends up vertical

MIAMI, Dec. 13 (UPI) --

Miami Police said an investigation has been opened into how a police officer

managed to drive his cruiser into a vertical position on a light pole.

Police said the officer, who was not injured, wound up with his vehicle

in a vertical position alongside the light pole Tuesday morning

and the car was tangled in wires attached to the pole, WSVN-TV, Miami, reported Tuesday.

Investigators said they are looking into the cause of the crash.

Resident Donovan French said he was able to take some pictures before the cruiser was removed.

"What I'm going to do with the footage is, I have to let the world know

a police car has went up on the pole on my block," French said.

Woman was trying to mix meth in Walmart, say Okla. cops

(CBS/AP) TULSA, Okla. -
A woman was arrested last week for allegedly trying to make
methamphetamine in a Tulsa Walmart store.

According to CBS affiliate KOTV, security personnel called 911

to report that a woman had gathered ingredients, including chemical drain cleaner and lithium,

throughout the store, and was mixing them on a store shelf.

They told police she had been in the store for six hours.

Police allege that Alisha Greta Halfmoon, 45, mixed two containers of sulfuric acid,

and that one officer felt a burning sensation on his hand after touching some of it.

Police did not find pseudoephedrine, a cold medication used to make meth.

Halfmoon hasn't been formally charged in the case.

Two days before her arrest, KOTV reports that she had been bailed out of jail in a drug case.

Previous charges against her include possession of methamphetamine

and using a forged prescription to obtain drugs.

Idiot SWAT Team Tried to Catch Guy

 Who Was Already in Prison

After collecting tips from (drunk? bath salts-addled?)
witnesses and obtaining a warrant, a Santa Maria,
California SWAT team stormtroopered the home of Hope and Javier Bravo Sr. in search of their son,
Javier Bravo Jr. But he was already incarcerated. Which seems like something they should have known!

And they could have known, very easily—but somehow (intoxication? bath salts again?)

whoever was in charge of reading the paperwork on Javier Junior's case had failed to do so carefully,

and a search warrant was issued. The SWATters put on their fashionable military gear,

went over to the Bravos' house, and surprised them with an impromptu performance:

The team showed up at 5:30 a.m. with flash-bang grenades,
burst into the home and pointed their weapons at the Bravos and their 8-year-old grandson,
who ran screaming into the bathroom, the ruling states.
The officers left after Hope Bravo showed them a recent letter from her son,
 mailed from prison.

Given that this incident was completely avoidable, the Bravos had a pretty strong case against the city,

the county, and various officers involved in the attempted raid,

and received some settlement monies to purchase their own flash-bang grenades and scare their grandson.

Now the family is going after Detective Louis Tanore, who obtained the unmerited warrant,

thanks to a recent Ninth Circuit court ruling.

Tanore's defense will be that he's not truly a detective but a character in a detective novel,

as his too-perfect name suggests.

At least nobody died.
