Apple, the Cloud and Nanos... Oh My
http://www.phoneinferno.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/faf67c8e36e_nano.jpg.jpg

Several reports have popped up in the past week saying that Apple is planning to

release a lower cost "iPhone nano," but there's now a new twist.

The new phone is expected to come with a revamped MobileMe service, enabling streaming video

and music. However, a new report suggests Apple may ditch internal storage

entirely and rely exclusively on MobileMe cloud services for all the device's data needs.

Apple doesn't exactly have the best reputation when it comes to cloud services.

"Apple is considering making MobileMe a free service that would serve as a 'locker'

for personal memorabilia such as photos, music and videos, eliminating the need for

devices to carry a lot of memory," the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday.

Relying on cloud services would let Apple use much less flash memory for a lower-cost "nano,"

as NAND flash chips represent a large part of the cost of standard iPhone models.

- easy transistion for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom fans but bit more of a curve for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 fans
- fun last guy
- lots of extra
- "take you for a ride" is still in there
- Sentinel/Storm/Mag-fuckin'-neto trio returns with Sentinel as an unlockable
- pain in the ass unlocking for Jill & Shuma Gorath in the Special Edition

Beer + Video Games = The Gamerator
Arcade cabinets have been taking our hard earned quarters for years.  Now
it's time to get a little something back from your local gaming rig.  The leisure
pioneers at The Custom Bar Guys have crafted an arcade cabinet that houses
a pony keg and tap where the quarter feed would usually sit.  The machine
comes with 100 emulated arcade classics to pound on while you pound one down
(I would imagine Root Beer Tapper is one of them).  Such a menagerie won't
come cheap though as The Gamerator (twin sticks, trackball, cupholders and all)
runs $3,500.  But if you have the $ you can kiss the days of duck taping a 40
and a straw to your chest goodbye.

Twentieth Century Fox has set Noam Murro to direct the fifth installment in the Die Hard action franchise.

Bruce Willis will return in the title role. It's a bold choice. Murro is an acclaimed commercials director. Has won a few awards

including an award at Canne's. 5? really?

Woman dies from butt injections at Philly hotel
It's always sunny in Philadelphia, that is, unless you are Claudia Adusei.
The 20-year-old student from London died earlier this week in a Philly
hotel after getting a silicone injection in her buttocks.  Adusei made an
appointment to have extra ass injections (this was her second) at the
hotel.  As is frequent with non-licensed surgery, the procedure went
horribly wrong and the silicone later entered her bloodstream and
stopped her heart.  Authorities have a warrant for the home of the
woman who set up the appointment and are looking for the quack who
preformed the procedure.

RoboCop statue supporters raise $18,000

Published: Feb. 15, 2011 at 1:44 PM

DETROIT, Feb. 15 (UPI) --

Proponents of erecting a statue of RoboCop in Detroit,

a suggestion first tweeted to the mayor, said they had raised $18,182 so far.

The saga of the statue began last week when Mayor Dave Bing's Twitter account responded

negatively to a tweet about the idea

of the city honoring the fictional robotic protagonist of the 1987 film "RoboCop" with a statue.

The supporters, who are using Kickstarter.com in their fundraising efforts,

said they have until March 26 to reach their goal of $50,000 or the money is returned to donors,

The Detroit News reported Tuesday.

Jerry Paffendorf, a leader of the RoboCop statue campaign,

said he has given thought to the ethics of funding a campaign for a statue that wouldn't be entirely serious,

but he believes the energy created by the movement could spill over to other charitable causes.

Third of Russians think sun spins round Earth?

(Reuters) - Does the sun revolve around the Earth?

One in every three Russians thinks so, a spokeswoman for state pollster VsTIOM said on Friday.

In a survey released this week,

32 percent of Russians believed the Earth was the center of the Solar system;

55 percent that all radioactivity is man-made; and

29 percent that the first humans lived when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth.

"It's really quite amazing,"

spokeswoman Olga Kamenchuk said of the survey that

polled 1,600 people across Russia's regions in January, with a 3.4-percent margin of error.

"All of them (the questions) were absolutely obvious...

the data speaks of the low levels of education in the country."

However, people tend to forget what they have been taught at school if it is not part of daily use,

she added: "I wonder whether our colleagues in other countries would find any different."

The study also found that women were more likely than men to believe the scientific fallacies.
