German robbers destroy bank but fail to get cash

BERLIN (Reuters Life!) –
Would-be robbers in Germany had to flee empty handed
after blowing up everything in a bank except for where the money was,
police said on Wednesday.
Photos in German media showed a scene of devastation in the northeastern village of Malliss,
with the bank reduced to a pile of rubble and its roof completely obliterated.
Amid the wreckage, only the cash machine could be seen intact.
"The explosion was so big, they had to run away without the money,"
said local police spokesman Niels Borgmann.
"Something evidently didn't work the way the robbers wanted it to."
Cars and buildings in a radius of up to 100 meters were damaged in the night time explosion,
though no one was injured.
Police are searching for the suspected robbers.
Thief steals trailer -- with two owners inside

CANBERRA (Reuters) –
A thief who stole a car with a trailer attached got away with more than he bargained for
-- as the two owners were in the back.
Australian police said the couple, aged in their 60s,
were picking up a new trailer from a dealer in the Adelaide suburb of Blair Athol on Monday around noon.
While a sales manager was showing the couple some of the features of their new purchase,
a thief jumped into their car as the keys had been left in the ignition and drove away.
"The sales manager managed to jump from the caravan as it was driven away.
The suspect then crashed into another car...and drove away from the scene at speed,
over kerbs, with the terrified couple still in the caravan," police said in a statement.
The thief abandoned the car and trailer several streets away before running off,
leaving the unharmed couple behind but taking their digital camera with him.
911 caller reports mom took his beer

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla., June 1 (UPI) --
Police in Florida said a man charged with making false 911 reports
called the emergency number several times to report his mother took away his beer.
A Pasco County Sheriff's Office arrest report said Charles Dennison, 32,
of New Port Richey called 911 multiple times Friday
and said he wanted his mother arrested for taking his beer,
the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported Tuesday.
The report said Dennison was "very intoxicated"
when a deputy arrived and he said the 911 calls would not stop until his mother was arrested.
Dennison was charged with making false 911 calls and jailed in lieu of $150 bail.
